Out of 400 Champions of God in the Bible only 80 finished well. That’s 20% Of those who finished well there are 5 characteristics. These are the non-negotiable characteristics of those who intend to finish well.
Humility Acknowledging my need of God regardless of how expert I have become, or how great my accomplishments are. When I depend on my ability I only benefit you where I am more expert than you. When I depend on God’s ability within me, then I can be of unlimited benefit to you.
Intimacy with God An affection for God that is evidenced in my desire to seek after His presence. My effectiveness is born out of relationship with Him. That is where I renew my strength. The capacity to succeed and overcome is found in Jesus.
Obedience to God Giving God His rightful place in our life, with a passion to live in a manner that brings pleasure to Him. This obligates me to know what his instruction is to me in the first place. If I don’t know what he is asking me to do how can I be obedient.
Faith to Believe The will to act in obedience to Him to see our greatest dreams fulfilled. Faith seldom operates within the realm of reason. In a multitude of counsellors there is safety, because they will always take the safe route. God calls us to take His path and that demands faith. The will to believe that everything is OK on the other side of risk.
Ability to Receive Counsel from Others Being open to hear from others and to actively seek after the wisdom of God in those we admire in the Lord. Learning to hear God’s voice from many different sources.
